Gualala Sport & Tackle was started by Robert Sundstrom in 1986 after completing construction of the Sundstrom Mall located in downtown Gualala, California. Eventually Robert sold the store business to Yvette White who had the store for 15 years. One day in 2016, Jeff and Kelli Mason visited the store to purchase a fishing license. After overhearing Yvette say she was moving, Kelli asked her where she was going. Yvette shared her story and then asked, "Do you want to buy my store?". In 2017, Jeff and Kelli along with their two sons, Blaine and Travis, began their Gualala Sport journey together.
Jeff and Kelli Mason are both long term residents of the Gualala area for over 37 years. With several generations of family from the area, they both visited this beautiful stretch of paradise their entire lives. The opportunity to live in Gualala/Point Arena came about in their later school years. The parallel between their lives and families is remarkable. After spending a few years in Southern California during their late teens and early twenties, they decided to make Gualala their forever home. They had the opportunity to design and build a house and later start their family. Raising their children in such a remarkable community has truly been a blessing.
We have a wonderful team of people who make this business run. Bringing a variety of experience, interests and talents to the table, keeps the store interesting. All of us are long-time locals who have a passion for this area and deep appreciation for the community we serve. We aren't all blood-related, but we are certainly family!
